On March 1st, 2009, Peconic Bay will release a special bottling of its second label “Nautique Esprit de Rosé” decorated with a hand-tied pink ribbon, and packed into pink boxes of twelve bottles each. www.martinscottwines.com (516-327-0808). Any liquor retailer or restaurant in these areas has access to the product via Martin-Scott, and it will be pre-sold to the trade between February 14th and March 1st. Additionally the wine will be sold retail at the winery’s tasting room in Cutchogue, NY for $16 per bottle.

Through the pink promotion of their second label “Nautique Esprit de Rosé”, Peconic Bay Winery will support NBCF’s mission to save lives. Using only 20% of its donations toward fundraising and administration has launched NBCF into a prestigious four star rating for being “one of the most fiscally sound nonprofits in America” by Charity Navigator, the largest charity evaluator in the nation.

“As a breast cancer survivor since 2000, and the mother of two daughters, I felt that this program might encourage and enable more women to get live-saving mammograms,” said Ursula Lowerre, owner of Peconic Bay Winery and the Nautique brand, “since early detection and awareness are key factors in fighting this disease.”

“We are proud to partner with Peconic Bay Winery,” says Janelle Hail, NBCF Founder & CEO. “Having faced breast cancer, the owners of Peconic Bay Winery understand the importance of early detection, and their support will allow us to continue our mission to save lives by providing free mammograms for those in need.”

Nautique Esprit de Rosé is a dry rosé wine, blended from the gentle pressing of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc grapes, all harvested during the 2009 vintage. The winemaker is Greg Gove. The finished wine is showing gorgeous aromas and flavors of citrus, orange blossom, fresh plums and strawberry and is finished perfectly dry.

ABOUT PECONIC BAY WINERY
In January of 1999, Manhattan based banker Paul Lowerre and his wife Ursula purchased the winery (originally known as Peconic Bay Vineyards) from the late Ray Blum with the intention of bringing the property to new heights. A renovation of the vineyards by viticulturist Charlie Hargrave, and the introduction of the outstanding winemaking of Columbia-educated Greg Gove have brought about these changes.

Today, Peconic Bay Winery produces about 7,500 cases of very fine varietals like Riesling, Merlot and Cabernet Franc. The old vines here also produce extraordinary Chardonnay, produced both as a Steel-
Fermented wine and as a traditionally produced barrel-aged version called La Barrique. Peconic Bay Winery’s secondary label is called Nautique. www.nautiquewines.com .  Peconic Bay Wines are produced with a minimum amount of intervention, and are among the most natural and traditionally made wines to be found on the North Fork of Long Island. As the stewards of this old vineyard and its terroir, the Lowerre family is the protector of part of the region’s legacy and this is something they will not compromise.
