Mammography

Project VALET (Providing Valuable Area Life-Saving Exams in Town) is a mammography education and screening program for asymptomatic women ages 40 to 74, who are uninsured, without county assistance and who are the patients of participating community clinics. Project VALET (PV) addresses barriers of cost and transportation by bringing free mobile mammography to the communities where eligible women reside. Project VALET also provides women with necessary follow-up diagnostic testing if needed, made possible through partnerships with participating facilities.

“Project VALET is experiencing no shortage of women requiring our services. Although screening numbers have increased since 2020, other factors still impact the availability of uninsured women to get both screening and diagnostic services. One of our community partners was unable to see patients for quite a few months due to staffing issues. Additionally, the supply chain issues impact repairs on our mobile vehicles which also raises our operating costs. We have added an additional clinic system with multiple locations up in the Conroe/Huntsville area. This will help to fill a void for much needed care in Montgomery County.” — Diane Benson, Project Director
