Lexington, KY—Link-Belt Excavator Company hosted an event this week to honor individuals and organizations supporting breast cancer awareness. During the event, donations were presented to the National Breast Cancer Foundation and Yes, Mamm! of CHI Saint Joseph Health Foundation.
Among those in attendance was Pink-Belt, a Link-Belt 145 X4 excavator painted a vibrant pink to support the cause. Over the past several months, she toured the United States and was later auctioned at ConExpo in Las Vegas, NV.
Randy Denney of Denney Excavating in Indianapolis, IN, claimed Pink-Belt with a generous donation and winning bid of $375,000.
“I have a number of close friends affected, so it was the right thing for me to do,” said Denney. “I would like to thank Link-Belt for giving me the opportunity to donate in a way I would’ve never known… and I would like to thank RECO, our dealer, for taking care of us for over 30 years.”
Jay Shafer, of Shafer Equipment Co. contributed an additional $10,000 to top off Denney’s winning bid and spoke at the event. Additional t-shirt sales and donations were made during CONEXPO, making a grand total of $386,200 raised.
“I am so thankful to everyone at LBX for all you’re doing to provide resources to continue the search for ways to stop this, to interrupt it, and to make it a disease of the past,” said Lexington Mayor, Linda Gorton.
“I would like to extend my grateful appreciation to our entire LBX family, dealers, and business partners. They’ve done amazing work with us contributing to the fight against breast cancer,” states Eric Sauvage, President and CEO of LBX Company. “We have been supporting the “Yes, Mamm!” program, created by CHI Saint Joseph Health Foundation since 2012 in Lexington, KY, as well as the National Breast Cancer Foundation in their common journey to bring awareness for early detection of breast cancer and increase the survival rate in our communities and in our nation. This year, we reached an amazing fundraising milestone with our Pink-Belt, and we are thankful to all our participants.”
100% of the Pink-Belt auction proceeds are awarded to the National Breast Cancer Foundation and Yes, Mamm! by CHI Saint Joseph Health Foundations.
“What we really try to do is help people at every step in the journey, whether through early detection, survivorship, or end-of-life care,” said Doug Feil, Chief Program Officer at National Breast Cancer Foundation.
“LBX has supported our Yes, Mamm! program since its inception and this is their third excavator donation,” said Meredith Herald, Manager of Major Gifts, Saint Joseph Hospital Foundation. “We are so grateful for this generous donation. Our Yes, Mamm! program is essential to providing comprehensive services to cancer patients and survivors, and LBX’s generosity is important in our ability to continue delivering this life-changing assistance.”
