As of April 3, 2025 I celebrated 6 years cancer free. I am down to one mammogram a year, and one ultrasound a year. Continue to be thankful my cancer was found very early due to me getting yearly mammograms, mine was caught at Stage 0 – beginning stage 1, and was lucky to qualify for a lumpectomy. My advice to all would be to be sure to get your mammogram every year, because when cancer is found early, it is very treatable!!!!
In June I'll be 10 years Cancer Free!
It will be 5 years since my double mastectomy on April 30th. No chemo, radiation because of clear margins. I am grateful to God and his grace and mercy. Thanks for good family and friends!!
Let me start by saying I’m truly blessed! Breast cancer is prevalent in both sides of my family. I’ve had the genetic studies done twice and there’s no scientific reason for me having breast cancer. My first dance with the beast was on my 41st birthday in 2002. Detected with a mammogram, less than a centimeter and treated with a lumpectomy and 33 rounds of radiation. Fast forward to 2 days shy of my 56th birthday (yeah, almost 15 years to the day) and another lump is found in the same breast, same general location as the first one. I opted for bilateral mastectomy and reconstruction. Again, it was small and caught early but I was so over it. My general surgeon was GREAT! The plastic surgeon was a jerk and my reconstruction is something out of a horror movie but I’m here, I’ve survived and through it all, my husband and family and best of all GOD was with me. That’s the best news of all. This was in 2017 and I’m here today to share the news that I’m alive and kicking. Thank you GOD!
I am 1 year cancer free.
I just realized today is exactly one year since my radiation ended. Cancer free. Yeah!
