The Breast Cancer Program at the Asplundh Cancer Pavilion is an NAPBC® accredited breast center with the American College of Surgeons that provides the highest level of breast care to hundreds of women in our area choose our team for their breast cancer treatment. Our comprehensive breast services begin at the Mary T. Sachs Breast imaging Center, which has been designated as a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence by The American College of Radiology. Services at our breast imaging and diagnostic center include: digital mammography, breast ultrasound, stereotactic breast biopsy, ultrasound-guided and MRI-guided breast biopsy and thermography. Our “Fast Track Program” speeds scheduling for women needing to see a surgeon or undergo biopsy thereby reducing a patient’s anxiety and promptly moving the patient to an appropriate plan of care. Once a diagnosis of breast cancer has been made, our Breast Cancer Nurse Navigator is available to provide information to aid in decision making about treatment and to help patients navigate through the process of planning treatment at The Asplundh Cancer Pavilion.
Our skilled specialists also conduct clinical trials, helping patients’ access innovative therapies. Women who have been diagnosed with breast cancer, whether or not they are patients at Abington Jefferson Health, can participate in the Breast Cancer Evaluation Services (BCES) at no charge. At the BCES, a team of specialists meets to review breast cancer cases and develop an individualized treatment plan for each patient. Members of this multidisciplinary team include the Nurse Navigator, Surgeons, Pathologists, Medical & Radiation Oncologists, Radiologists, and an Oncology Research Nurse. Other members of the treatment team include Oncology Certified Chemotherapy Nurses, Social Workers, Rehabilitation Specialists, Dietitians and Oncology Pharmacists. All members of this team play an integral role in caring for our breast cancer patients.
