Avera Cancer Institute’s six regional centers and dozens of outreach sites make up the region’s only accredited cancer care network. Our collaborative approach ensures you have access to the latest treatments available. Care teams include oncologists, medical providers, surgeons, social workers, dietitians, chaplains, patient advocates, and other specialists. Avera’s commitment to high-quality cancer care resulted in network accreditations from the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer (COC) and the American Society of Clinical Oncology Quality Oncology Practice Initiative (QOPI). These accreditations and certifications verify quality and clinical excellence and an ongoing dedication to performance improvement, ultimately benefiting patient care.

“The Breast Cancer Program at Avera strives for excellence in care, quality, and compassion. We have a team of professionals that were called to support our patients not only on their hardest days, but also on some of the happiest days. This grant would allow us to continue to focus on educating patients on the benefits of early detection and preventive screening services, grow our high risk breast and genetic counseling programs, and support all the breast cancer patients and their families through their fight. The stress of hearing the word abnormal finding or cancer is enough to worry about, but the daily to daily stress of figuring out how to pay for day care, bills, copays, rent add another level of stress to peoples fight. This grant would be an amazing opportunity for our breast program to touch even more patients and continue to live out the mission of our care here at Avera.” — Tara Kocourek, Director of Breast Health at Avera
