In 1992, Breast Surgeon Dr. Sally Knox and a group of breast cancer survivors came together and developed a program to serve women who lacked financial resources and/or insurance to cover breast cancer treatment. The Bridge Breast Center was formed (a nonprofit 501(c) (3)). The name was later changed to The Bridge Breast Network (BBN) to reflect our reach and expanded medical network. In our 31-year history, BBN has touched the lives of over 200,000 women in 28-North Texas Counties with breast health education and/or medical services. BBN patient navigators, case managers, 300 medical providers and 200 community partners work hand-in-hand to provide a continuum of care from early detection through breast cancer treatment to reduce the incidents of late-stage diagnosis and increase survival. BBN comprehensive services includes breast/health education, mammography services, biopsies, surgery, medical and radiation oncology, and survivorship services to those who otherwise could not afford these services.
BBN strives to reduce barriers to healthcare access and the incidents of late-stage disease by collaborating with medical and community partners to increase awareness, access, and survival.
Donations are always appreciated, but there are lots of great ways to get involved.
