Inova’s breast cancer program is a nationally recognized treatment program that provides breast cancer care from risk assessment and prevention to diagnosis and treatment. The program begins at the Inova Saville Screening and Prevention Center, a medical home for cancer prevention and early detection. Medical providers assess each patient’s individual risk factors including family history, lifestyle choices, and environmental exposure; develop prevention plans tailored to each individual’s needs and provide support and guidance throughout the process. The Saville Screening and Prevention Center fulfils most of the needed cancer screening/testing as a result of those risk assessments. Personalized breast cancer care is coordinated through the Inova Schar Cancer Institute integrating a team of breast experts, including nurse navigators, surgeons, medical and radiation oncologists and pathologists. Education and emotional support services for breast cancer patients and families are available through our Life with Cancer Program, all at no cost.
“In the Saville Center, we will improve people’s access to recommended cancer screenings and affress any fears they may have, whether they are at low, moderate or high risk. We will reach out to people who are underinsured or uninsured and make sure they have equal opportunities for prevention and screening. Our goal is to make a measurable impact on cancer control in the D.C. metro area and beyond.” — Rebecca Kaltman, MD, Executive Director and Endowed Chair, Saville Center
Donations are always appreciated, but there are lots of great ways to get involved.
