The Empower Her® program through The Rose addresses the cost, lack of insurance coverage as well as other barriers that keep patients from receiving potentially lifesaving breast care. To qualify for Empower Her®, patients must be uninsured and have income at or below 200% of the Federal Poverty Level ($62,400 annually for a family of four). While the program focuses on women, we do provide breast health care to men.
The goal of Empower Her® is to save lives and ensure that uninsured and medically underserved women and men receive the same access to care as their insured counterparts. The program covers the cost of screening services as part of an annual well-woman checkup as well as diagnostic care for those who present with breast issues. When any abnormalities are detected after a breast screening, uninsured patients receive no cost diagnostic procedures to include diagnostic mammograms, ultrasounds, biopsies, and pathology testing. Beginning in Spring 2024, we plan to add Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) to the list of services offered to both insured and uninsured patients. The uninsured patients are to receive their MRIs at no cost through Empower Her®. When a patient is diagnosed with breast cancer, patient navigators then move patients into timely treatment within 30 days of their diagnosis.
“The Rose continues to see the number of uninsured in need of breast health services increase year after year. Funding such as this allows us to extend services to more in our community.” — Dorothy Gibbons, CEO & Co-Founder
Donations are always appreciated, but there are lots of great ways to get involved.
