This year alone, more than 360,000 people will be diagnosed with breast cancer. But when caught in its earliest stages, the five-year relative survival rate for the disease is 99%. October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, which aims to encourage screening and prevention of the disease. During this campaign, Galleria Dallas is partnering with Frisco-based National Breast Cancer Foundation to “Pink the Rink,” with 10% of rink admission sales on Oct. 19-20 benefiting the foundation’s important work. During “Pink the Rink,” guests are encouraged to wear pink as they take to the ice.
National Breast Cancer Foundation’s vision is to live in a world where no one will navigate breast cancer alone. Its mission is to provide help and inspire hope in those affected by breast cancer through early detection, education and support services.
“We are incredibly honored to partner with Galleria Dallas to Pink the Rink this October. Our partnership will allow us to help more women and families when they need it most, now,” said NBCF National Spokesperson Ashley Miller. “We are grateful for the opportunity to encourage others to prioritize their breast health and look forward to working together to highlight the 1 in 8 women who will be diagnosed in her lifetime.”
“Breast cancer affects so many families, and early detection is key to preserving those families,” said Megan Townsend, director of marketing and partnerships at Galleria Dallas. “We are inspired by the work of National Breast Cancer Foundation and proud to be its partner for this weekend of Pink the Rink.”
