October 18, 2013 – Hungry Howie’s kicks off its fifth annual Love, Hope & Pizza campaign on October 1. The campaign raises funds for the National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF), which is a recipient of Charity Navigator’s highest four-star rating for nine consecutive years. Hungry Howie’s Distributing associate Tiffany Hutto, who is a one year breast cancer survivor says, “The campaign means everything to me. If my story inspires one woman to get a mammogram, it brings me hope.” Early detection saved Hutto’s life, and she shares, “The key to recovery is support. When I was going through my treatment, my co-workers shaved their heads to show their love and support. That meant the world.”
“Cancer makes you think about how much time you have left and what you want to do with it. Don’t dream it’s over. Don’t you dare!” says Andrea Adair, who is a Hungry Howie’s associate and a two-time breast cancer survivor. Adair volunteers extensively and will be featured in the book about Bodies of Courage. She is passionate about sharing her story of early detection and post-mastectomy options and participates in numerous breast cancer causes including Love, Hope & Pizza.
During the month of October, Hungry Howie’s will go pink with large pizzas being served in pink boxes and the NBCF logo. For every story shared on Facebook, every new Facebook fan, every picture tagged #LOVEHOPEPIZZA and every large pizza purchase, Hungry Howie’s will make a donation to NBCF. Supporters may also purchase $1 Love, Hope & Pizza wristbands with all proceeds going to NBCF. Tote bags made of recycled vinyl from 2012 Love, Hope & Pizza billboards have been produced and may be purchased from G2 GreenGear with a donation being made to NBCF.
Janelle Hail, NBCF Founder & CEO says, “When I was diagnosed with breast cancer 33 years ago, I knew little about the disease. I was forced to make a decision about my health without knowing my options. Fortunately, early detection saved my life, and now thanks to the customers and employees of Hungry Howie’s, we are ensuring that women across America are educated about breast cancer and don’t have to face it alone.” In the last four years, Hungry Howie’s has raised nearly $800,000 for breast cancer research and hopes to surpass the $1,000,000 mark this year.
“Women affected by breast cancer are our mothers, daughters, sisters, co-workers and customers. It is inspiring to hear the stories of women, who have turned their breast cancer experiences into a positive mission to educate and support others and their loved ones. We are honored to partner with NBCF and passionately support them,” shares Jennifer Hearn, President of Hungry Howie’s Pizza Inc.
