October 1, 2015 – How can you help women in need right now? This October, SAS joins hands with National Breast Cancer Foundation, Inc. ® (NBCF) to premier its new women’s boat shoe in limited edition colors. A portion of the proceeds from these stylish pink “comfort for a cause” shoes will be donated to NBCF to provide education and diagnostic services to women in need.
NBCF helps women by offering a variety of programs to provide support and give hope to those affected by breast cancer, including providing free mammograms and diagnostic breast care services. SAS is proud to support these services with the sale of the Catalina boat shoe in fun, limited edition colors: Bubblegum and Taffy. The Texas-made Catalina is handcrafted from only the finest leather and quality materials. For each pair of limited edition Catalinas sold, SAS will donate a portion of the proceeds directly to NBCF to support early detection, education, and support services.
“So many people close to us here at SAS have struggled with this terrible disease,” explains San Antonio Shoemakers’ CEO, Nancy Richardson. “We understand the vital need to provide necessary medical and emotional services. For this reason, we are honored to be working with NBCF to assist those affected by breast cancer.”
“This year, over 230,000 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in the United States. For these women, early detection offers the best hope for survival. We are grateful that San Antonio Shoemakers has chosen to join us in Helping Women Now® by supporting life-saving early detection services for women in need,” says Janelle Hail, CEO and Co-founder of NBCF.
The Catalina shoe will be available at SAS locations and at select retailers nationwide during the month of October.

About SAS:
In 1976, San Antonio Shoemakers (SAS) started a quiet revolution in footwear offering superb craftsmanship and extraordinary comfort. Co-founders Terry Armstrong and Lew Hayden countered a national trend of diminishing quality and cheap foreign manufacturing when they began making shoes that set a new standard in footwear. Today, the company still makes handcrafted shoes in Texas to exacting standards with the very best materials available, making its own shoe forms so that it can offer an unparalleled fit—88 sizes for women and 104 for men—and astonishing comfort. Carried in 200+ SAS stores and in retailers in the United States, Canada, Mexico, Australia, Korea, Kuwait, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Panama, Chile, Israel, and England—the San Antonio Shoemakers brand is a humble American success story, and continues to be a family-owned enterprise driven by an obsession with fit and quality. Inspiring an ardent customer-base for decades, San Antonio Shoemakers continues to take extra steps, so customers can too.
