August 27, 2014 – ST. HELENA, CA – Sutter Home Family Vineyards announced today the launch of the new “Text for Hope” program as part of its 13-year ongoing Sutter Home for Hope breast cancer awareness initiative. The program will launch on September 1, 2014 in preparation for National Breast Cancer Awareness month, and will run through December 31, 2014. Participating consumers can text “HOPE” to 89800 (“Text Hope”) for a chance to win a limited edition pink Sutter Home for Hope jersey*. For each text received, Sutter Home will make a $1.00 donation to the National Breast Cancer Foundation, up to $50,000.00.
The Sutter Home for Hope initiative was started when one of Sutter Home’s founding family members, Vera Trinchero Torres, was diagnosed with the disease in 2001. One of the first wine companies to make a commitment to breast cancer awareness, the Sutter Hope for Hope program has helped to raise nearly $1 million towards breast cancer research, treatment and education.
“For the past 13 years, Sutter Home has been dedicated to supporting the cause of breast cancer awareness, treatment and education through the Sutter Home for Hope campaign. This year, we are thrilled to be partnering with the National Breast Cancer Foundation and excited to bring our Sutter Home consumers together with our own employees and distributor partners in support of this important cause. According to the National Cancer Institute, when breast cancer is detected early, the 5-year survival is 98%. This year’s Sutter Home for Hope campaign and partnership with the NBCF will focus on increasing awareness of the importance for all women to have an early detection plan,” said Wendy Nyberg, Vice President of Marketing for Sutter Home.
“We are very excited about our new partnership with Sutter Home Family Vineyards. When we learned about the brand’s 13 year history of supporting the fight against breast cancer, we knew they would be a great fit with our mission of Helping Women Now through early detection, education and support services. Together with Sutter Home, we can reach more women than ever before with our messages of hope and critically important educational tools,” said Janelle Hail, founder and Chief Executive Officer of the National Breast Cancer Foundation.
Each year, thousands of people across the country have supported Sutter Home for Hope – by participating in its programs like Text for Hope, Capsules for Hope, and Walk for Hope; sharing their personal stories and photos on the Sutter Home for Hope website; or simply wearing pink Sutter Home for Hope jerseys and ribbons to continue raising awareness. The Sutter Home Facebook page, which has over 445,000 fans, and Twitter pages, will go all-pink in celebration of breast cancer awareness month in October.
