October 9, 2012 – Online fashion retailer YesStyle announces the launch of Pink It with YesStyle, its 2012 breast cancer awareness campaign for the month of October. The annual campaign is now in its third year and supports the cause with a US$5000 donation to the National Breast Cancer Foundation. In addition, YesStyle offers a selection of pink fashion items as a way of raising awareness of the disease.
For the entire month of October, which is recognized as Breast Cancer Awareness Month worldwide, YesStyle offers a selection of pink items to shoppers on its websites. Shoppers are encouraged to shop for and wear the color pink, internationally recognized as the color worn in support of breast cancer awareness. Furthermore, YesStyle pledges a guaranteed donation of US$5,000 to the National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF), recognized as one of the world’s leading breast cancer organizations.
Joshua Lau, YesStyle founder and CEO, said, “We are proud that our Pink It with YesStyle campaign is now on its third year and that it continues to be an avenue for more people to become aware of this disease. As the majority of our customers are women, it is all the more essential for us to lend a helping hand.”
A Texas-based non-profit organization, NBCF aims to raise awareness about breast cancer and the importance of early detection through continuing education programs. The organization also provides low-cost and free mammograms to women with limited resources as well as a network of support and care for those who are diagnosed. YesStyle’s donation will go towards providing mammograms for women who may not be able to afford them otherwise.
In the United States, breast cancer is second only to lung cancer as the leading cause of cancer deaths among women. In 2011, only 51.2% of woman aged 40 and older in the U.S. reported getting a mammogram, as reported by the American Cancer Society’s (ACS) website, www.cancer.org. Among these, Asian-American and Pacific Islander women tended to have lower rates of breast cancer screening than African-American and Caucasian women. The consequences of missing out on screenings may mean a later diagnosis, which could also lower chances of survival.
Pink It with YesStyle runs until October 31, 2012 on all the YesStyle websites: YesStyle.com, YesStyle.com.hk, YesStyle.com.au, YesStyle.co.uk and YesStyle.ca.
